Living with Narcolepsy During a Pandemic: A Virtual Discussion
Avadel hosted a virtual panel moderated by Dr. Asim Roy, medical director at the Ohio Sleep Medicine Institute, me and a fellow advocate, Kara, shared our experiences living with narcolepsy. We shared our journey to diagnosis, how our symptoms of cataplexy and excessive daytime sleepiness affect our lives, and how we navigated living with narcolepsy during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Project Sleep's Rising Voices of Narcolepsy
Iris Vasconcelos is an advocate for invisible illnesses, freelance writer, and blogger from Portugal. She was diagnosed with narcolepsy at 28 years old after experiencing symptoms for 13 years. As a speaker with Project Sleep’s Rising Voices of Narcolepsy Program, she is telling her story with the hope of empowering others to do the same.

World Narcolepsy Day 2020 will take place on Sept. 22, 2020. This day is dedicated to raising awareness of narcolepsy on a global scale.
Established by 24 patient advocacy organizations across 6 continents in 2019, World Narcolepsy Day unites the international narcolepsy community to inspire action, increase public knowledge, and elevate the voices of the 3 million people living with narcolepsy worldwide.
Get involved and use the hashtag #WorldNarcolepsyDay.
I'm so pleased to announce that I have been invited to participate in this year's Rising Voices of Narcolepsy Writing Program!
A program that serves the dual purposes, through speaking and writing, of fostering a new generation of narcolepsy patient-advocates spreading awareness while also empowering participants.
